Queer Wedding at The Convent Daylesford

Welcome to the whimsical, wonderful world of Jack and Hemlock. Held at the picturesque Convent at Daylesford on the cusp of spring these two beautiful humans created a wedding that was whole hearted them.

Drawing upon inspiration from A Midsummer Night's Dream their wedding embodies what it means for Jack and Hemlock to be queer and oh so whimsical.

Both creatives, Hemlock says when they met Jack it was like having a seed implanted in their ribs and with each glance, smile and touch, that seed took root and grew into a whole garden, pushing their heart back into place after living with it slightly askew.

From Jack and Hemlock “We wanted a wedding that felt queer in every sense. Obviously in terms of representing us as queer people and our love as queer love, but also as a celebration for everything a little strange.

We combed through all the conventional wedding traditions and discarded anything that didn’t feel true to us. At the same time it wasn’t just about rejecting tradition for the sake of it, because we both found a lot of beauty in all the minute rituals that make up different kinds of weddings. We wanted to invite our guests into our odd little world, but we also wanted them to feel comfortable and looked after.,

So it was all about finding a balance between celebrating our weirdness and not overcomplicating things. At the end of it our wedding felt like a distilled version of us; loving, whimsical, and a little bit otherworldly.”
