My Why

Film was one of my first loves. My dad taught me on one of his cameras (he was a journalist) when I was still a child. I fell in love with reading the light, the mathematics of the camera, (an old manual model from the early 80’s,) and sheer delight of creating, dancing with the light around me, making just a little bit of magic.

Long school days in the darkroom developing my prints turned into a full blown obsession and I followed my love to uni. I was the last crop of kids to be formally darkroom trained. And I was so thankful for it.

The delight and anticipation of watching what I’d created appear before my eyes held a joy all of its own. There was no instant gratification, I planned each of the 24 frames on each film roll meticulously. There was a slow, deliberate air to film, developing it myself and then printing my own images. I was capturing pure light on a chemical level. I was in love.

Your Wedding, Captured on Film

Fast forward 20 years and the enchanting, soft and timeless feel of film is yours to fall in love with too. Digital is great for on the fly, fast paced moments but when it comes to getting creative and making fine art prints- film is in a class of its own.

24 very special frames are included in your wedding day coverage, alongside all of your digital images, giving you a distinctly different perspective on your day. It really is the best of both worlds! I even use the exact same camera that my dad handed down to me all those years ago!

Your film images are prepared by Australia’s best and oldest print lab, then lovingly scanned digitally so that they can be included with your online gallery. You’ll find that your film images will lend themselves perfectly to print, and because of this you have the option of also receiving your printed film images on hand torn paper, carefully preserved in a keepsake box.
